Titles printed in red and black and with engraved vignette, engraved frontispiece in volume I, 24 double-page or folding maps, 26 folding printed tables. (Frontispiece offset onto title, light browning and spotting.) Contemporary sprinkled calf, gilt spines (spines rather worn, 3 labels missing). Second English edition of volume I and first of volume II, with some entertaining comments on French cartographers. cf.Kress 5157. (2)
