SUETONIUS TRANQUILLUS, Caius (75-160). Vitae Caesarum . Commentary by Philippus Beroaldus (1453-1505). Bologna: Benedictus Hectoris, 5 April 1493. Super-chancery 2° (305 x 208mm). Greek and roman types, printer's device, initial spaces with guide-letter, paragraph marks and capital strokes and marginal annotations in pink ink to m3. (Very occasional small stains, a little marginal spotting.) Remboîtage in early limp vellum. Provenance : contemporary corrections and annotations in a neat, humanist hand. First edition with the commentary of the humanist scholar Beroaldus, and the first book printed by Benedictus Hectoris. He acquired the Greek type specifically to print this book.
