(Folio) 40x27 cm (15¾x10½") original publisher's half vellum over marbled boards, vellum ruled in gilt, black leather label on spine, Bakst's autograph in facsimile on front cover. First Edition. The earliest of the major works on Leon Bakst, with notes on the ballets by Jean Cocteau Printed at the De la More Press. Léon Samoilovitch Bakst (1866–1924) was a Russian painter and scene and costume designer. He was a member of the Sergei Diaghilev circle and is best remembered for his set and costume designs for the Ballets Russes. Lot Amendments Condition: Some light wear and soiling to vellum, restorations to spine and hinges; internally near fine. Item number: 265357
