Considers the consequences of clerical celibacy upon the English Church. It was during the reign of the dedicatee that the abolition of clerical celibacy took place. Bale was one of a group of writers assembled by Thomas Cromwell to defend the Reformation. Provenance: Richard Pemberton (large 17th century ink inscription to outer margin of title).
