Très rare biscuit représentant Diane assise, Meissen, circa 1934-1948 A very rare Meissen biscuit figure of Diana (Sitzende Diana), circa 1934-48Modelled by Paul Scheurich in the nude, seated and loosening the strap of her quiver of arrows which lies beside her, draped fabric beneath it, incised 'Scheurich' to the rear of the base, 32cm high, approx. 27cm long, crossed swords mark in blue to the rear of the base with four incised / ('Deputatware'), incised model number A 1046, impressed former numeral 150 for Hoberg, impressed crossed swords/'weiβ' (ends of arrows broken off)FootnotesProvenance: Heinrich Hoberg, Master of the Bossierers at the Meissen manufactory Exhibited: Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 The biscuit porcelain version of this figure was a private commission by Annelies von Ribbentrop. The master of the Bossierer, Heinrich Hoberg, received this example with firing cracks as payment-in-kind. See footnote to following lot.
