Photographs of people, places, Buddhist sculptures, architecture, architectural details and landscapes in Afghanistan and India on the eve of World War II, the collapse of the British Raj, and the subsequent Partition. Highlights include shots of the Bamiyan Buddhas (the monumental sculptures the Taliban destroyed in 2001 on orders by Mullah Omar), Kashmir, the Khyber Pass, portraits of various officials, political leaders, and sherpas.
