(India - Photographs) Two travel photograph albums documenting India, Tibet and Bhutan from 1934-1940 Date Published: 1934-40 Description: 2 photograph albums containing 914 mounted gelatin silver prints and 67 real photo post cards. Photograph sizes vary from 9x15 cm (3½x6") or vice versa to 6x8.5 cm (2½x3½") or vice versa. Album leaves measure 27.5x35.5 cm (10¾x14"). Photographs of people, places, trains, architecture, and landscapes largely in India but including some photographs of Tibet and Bhutan on the eve of World War II and the ensuing collapse of the British Raj. Highlights include images of the Taj Mahal and of Mount Everest. The real photo postcards are from the Ajanta caves, Daulatabad Fort, the Temples of Ellora, Golconda, and Hyderabad.
