17 pages, on 9 leaves, plus several unused leaves. Handwritten in ink. 17.4x22.4 cm (6¾x8¾"), brad-bound wrappers with ink cover title and decoration, watercolor portrait, apparently of the female author wearing a motoring bonnet, pinned to the front wrapper. Charming early 20th century travel diary chronicling three trips by a young women, the first from Minneapolis to Jamestown and back, in 1916 (2½ pages); the second in Oregon and California, north and south, in 1917 (10 pages); the third in Washington and British Columbia in 1927 (3+ pp). The first trip begins with "Harold Mague and his cousin and Edgar Stewart Wayne and his Locomobile Stewart in his Chalmers Mr. and Mrs. Chester Flickinger came as far as Big Lake in their car..." A year later, the diarist arrived in Northern Califorina by train and boat, then embarked on an auto stage for Los Angeles, visiting places along the way including Santa Barbara, Catalina, etc.
