This most attractive little enveloping-bodied sports-racing car is an example of the small series of such competitive small-capacity 1100cc class designs constructed by the partnership of Rod Easterling and Jim Osborne (Re + Jo = Rejo) at the turn of the 1950s and ’60s. We understand that this particular example of their work was sold new to John O’Sullivan, being used in contemporary club racing essentially from 1959 into the early 1960s. We are advised that it was entered in the 1961 Guards Trophy race, and we believe it was later campaigned in club-level race meetings by P.B. Ross-Tuppin. The car is offered here equipped with a little-used example of a Denis Welch Cosworth-Ford MAE engine of the type renowned in period as the ‘screamer’ unit as used in minor-Formula single-seater racing. It breathes through two twin-choke Weber carburettors. The BMC A35/Austin-Healey Sprite-type gearbox has recently been rebuilt by Hardy Engineers while the car’s rear chassis-mounted differential unit is a Gemini assembly with inboard drum brake mountings on each cheek-plate. This Rejo Mark IV has a multi-tubular chassis frame riding on coil-and-wishbone fully-independent suspension front and rear, and is equipped with disc-type front brakes and drum-type inboard rears. Full restoration work was completed upon the car as long ago as 1979 and it has been in active use more or less ever since. It is offered here complete with appropriate FIA Historic Vehicle Identity documentation, issued in February 1989. Its general condition is described as being good to very good and for any would-be owner/driver interested in making an affordable and ideal entry into Historic class circuit racing this very attractive and competitive sports-racing car may be very highly recommended.
