It also came with a four-speed GM derived automatic gearbox as standard equipment. Most obvious, among many changes from the preceding models, were the adoption of four headlamp lighting, the absence of sidelights from the wing tops and a slightly lower radiator shell. Inside, there was improved accommodation with separate front seats and increased room for rear passengers. Notable as the last mainstream Rolls-Royce to employ a separate chassis, the supremely elegant Silver Cloud III remained in production until superseded by the unitary-construction Silver Shadow in late 1965. This handsome Rolls-Royce is finished in the delightful two-tone colour combination of silver over maroon. These immensely curvaceous cars are perfect for such colour schemes and the interior trim is a light grey, complemented by ample walnut on the dashboard, door cappings and rear picnic tables. This well looked after example was originally supplied by Jack Barclays and at some later stage in its life was exported to the United States. The car was subsequently reimported by the vendor in 2016 and has enjoyed a recommissioning during his tenure. We are advised that she runs well with the 6230cc, V8 engine offering the familiar purr and no known faults. With seats akin to your favourite armchair, there is little wonder that these classic Rolls-Royces are becoming increasingly desirable. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a fresh MoT test certificate, together with some recent invoices and handbooks, this Silver Cloud III is as comfortable to travel in today as it was in 1965. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
