1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce Lot Number117 RegistrationOCN 546L Chassis Number2470288 Engine NumberAR00512/45972 Odometer reading91,041 miles Estimate£13,000 - £16,000 ResultSold - £15,848 Print details Send this to a friend 1 more image Full nut and bolt restoration 2004/05 Superb condition throughout A modern classic by Pininfarina, the simple yet elegant 'Kamm tail' Spider bodywork, premiered on the 1970 Spider Veloce and would prove enduringly popular, lasting into the 1990s. The Spider’s mechanics were essentially those of the Giulia saloon while the engine was the GTV’s double overhead camshaft four. The original 1750 version was a one year only model, with the advent of the Spica-injected 2000 model in 1971. Wind tunnel testing resulted in the 2000’s signature drag-reducing Kamm tail, while other improvements over the earlier Duetto models included bigger brakes and a limited slip differential. Outstanding speed, acceleration and handling were all characteristics of this class leading model, which nevertheless possessed a quite remarkable docility, even at high speeds and the twisting roads which were great for these Italian classics. The previous owner of this superb Spider completed a full nut and bolt restoration in 2004/05 which included welding repairs, a full respray, engine rebuild including ignition, valve seals, gearbox rebuild, big end bearings, pistons and a whole host more, the list of which is contained within the history file accompanying the car. Since 2006, the present owner has replaced the starter motor, tyres, brake pads and he has rebuilt the carburettors. All the receipts and photographs of the work can also been found in the history file. Immaculately presented in yellow with a black interior, this example is certainly one of the nicest we have seen and with its black hood in great condition it is ready to be enjoyed.
