SIGNED G. ROOKE, LONDON, CIRCA 1845
A CASED 16-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN SIGNED G. ROOKE, LONDON, CIRCA 1845 With twist sighted barrels signed on the rib towards the breech, patent breeches engraved with roped borders and with a shell on the rib, and each with platinum-plug, scroll engraved tang, border and scroll engraved signed locks each decorated with a differing hunting scene, that on one side involving two dogs, and on the other a dog springing a woodcock (one hammer replaced), well figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip, engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon, and brass-mounted ramrod, Birmingham proof marks, in brass-cornered relined fitted mahogany case with some accessories including embossed Dixon brass-mounted copper powder-flask, the exterior with circular brass escutcheon and flush-fitting carrying-handle 30in. (76.2cm.) barrels
