A finely carved and detailed Navy Board style ¼in:1ft. scale unrigged and partially planked model of the 74-gun ship Bellona of 1760 modelled by C. Hooper in boxwood, lime and pear with carved 'gilt' painted figurehead in the form of a jousting warrior, with hair rails, bitts, catheads, hatches, gratings, belaying rails, stove and stove pipe, the deck partially planked and pinned to reveal 'tween deck detailing, brass bell with canopy, capstan, companionways, carved wooden double helm with rope, deck lights and other details. The hull, finely planked above the main whale has open gun ports, finely carved stern and quarter gallery detailing with glazed windows, rudder with chains and pintles, chain plates and deadeyes with painted decoration overall, with finely cut and shaped framing, is finished in black with Venetian red bulwarks and matt varnish and mounted on a 'launching' style slipway base with blocks, sleepers, runners and gravel, finished in mahogany with six turned bun feet.
