A GEORGE III BRASS-MOUNTED MAHOGANY STRIKING EIGHT DAY TABLE CLOCK ADAM TRAVERS, LONDON. LATE 18TH CENTURY CASE: with brass handle to the break-arch top, later flambeau urn finials and finial blocks to all angles, brass fishscale side frets, brass mouldings to the front door and front canted angles, raised on brass bracket feet; case key DIAL: 7 in. wide brass dial with scroll and foliage spandrels to the engraved silvered chapter ring, the matted centre with date square and inset signature cartouche signed 'Adam Travers/London', strike/silent subsidiary ring to the arch, cut steel hands MOVEMENT: with five ring-turned pillars, twin line fusees, verge escapement and rack strike with trip repeat on replaced bell, flowering basket, scroll and foliage engraving to the back plate 15½ in. (39 cm.) high; 11½ in. (29 cm.) wide; 7½ in. (19 cm.) deep
