A GEORGE III BRASS-MOUNTED SATINWOOD QUARTER-STRIKING EIGHT DAY TABLE CLOCK JOHN TAYLOR LONDON. CIRCA 1780 CASE : with boxwood and ebony line inlays and tulipwood crossbanding, brass-bound bell top with pen-work decoration and urn finials, the front with gilt-brass caryatid mounts, brass quarter frets to the brass-framed front door, the sides with handles above cast mask frets DIAL: 8 in. wide repainted dial with inner concentric calendar, strike/silent to the arch, signed 'JOHN TAYLOR/LONDON', pierced and engraved gilt-brass hands MOVEMENT: six ring-turned pillars, triple chain fusees with verge escapement, striking the quarters on a nest of seven bells and the hours on further bell, foliate and scroll engraved back plate 20 in. (51 cm.) high; 15 in. (38 cm.) wide; 9 in. (23 cm.) deep
