A rare 16th century German cast silver gilt folding spoon-cum-two-prong fork with detachable bowl and openwork ball finial, surmounted by a praying figure, (unscrewing to reveal a pen knife and folding toothpick and ear pick), the tapering eight-sided stem with applied ornamentation in the form of St. George slaying the dragon, winged putto masks, a drop of graduated beads, a seed pearl and a putto, the bowl with delicate, pricked engraving and a cast socket to reveal the tines of the fork, in the form of an angel with a nimbus, (repaired and damaged, one piece detached and regilded) - 19.5cm long overall, 2oz.
