A SAFAVID COPY OF LAYLA WA MAJNUN SIGNED MUHAMMAD HUSAYN AL-HUSAYNI, HERAT, DATED DHU AL-HIJJA AH 964/SEPTEMBER 1557 AD Persian manuscript on gold-speckled paper, 72ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 12ll. of black nasta'liq script arranged in two columns between black-ruled double divisions, titles in larger blue or red script, text within gold and polychrome rules, opening folio with illuminated headpiece, colophon signed, dated and stating that this manuscript was copied in Herat, last folio with later added miniature, remargined, in brown leather cover with stamped decoration 9 1/8 x 6in (23.5 x 15.1cm)
