AUGUSTINUS, Aurelius (354-430). De trinitate Dei . [Basel:] Johann Amerbach, 1489. Super-chancery 2° (317 x 220mm). Gothic types, Greek type on a4v and d5v, printed guide-letters. Opening page with 4-line initial in blue on punched gold ground, acanthus decoration in lower margin, other initials in red. (A few letters supplied in ink ms. on a4, some scattered worming mostly marginal but touching text in a, k-m, light dampstain towards the end.) Contemporary German blindtooled calf over wooden boards, sides panelled with foliate rolls and various foliate stamps (somewhat worn, rebacked, without clasps, small wormholes). Provenance : marginalia in an early hand, ms. list of feast days on final blank -- Au am Inn, monastery S. Felicita (early title inscription).
