Title within woodcut border ( trimmed and laid down ), engraved portrait of Chaucer within border showing arms of his progeny by John Speed ( tipped in before title, trimmed and laid down ), full-page woodcut arms on A6v, head-piece woodcut of a knight between ornamental half-borders on B1r, 2 full-page divisional titles within pictorial woodcut frame, numerous woodcut initials. Small folio, contemporary calf, rebacked with old spine laid down, some wear; title and portrait trimmed and laid down (verso's blank); lacking [-]7 and 4B8 (both probably blank), a few marginal tears and repairs (affecting a few lines of C3 and D6, light browning and occasional marginal dampstaining. Sixth edition. Pforzheimer 177; STC 5079.
