Collection of letters addressed to Mr George Forrest from prominent British figures. Includes: Field Marshal Garnet Wolseley (saying "I presume you don't want my recollections of Sir Colin Campbell's relief of Lucknow for a long time yet. I mean to put those recollections into the form of an article for a magazine as soon as I can find the time to do so, and although I can never tell all I know and saw and did upon such an occasion, where I was myself so actively employed, I will tell enough to write the story of interest to most readers", five pages, The Royal Hospital, Dublin, 20 October, 1894); Lord Rosebery (writing "you are quite right in believing that I attach great value to your book on Warren Hastings, and I am sincerely grateful to you for sending me your book on the mutiny", one page, 38 Berkeley Square, 5 June 1897); Arthur Balfour (a thank you note for sending a copy of 'History of the Indian Mutiny'", two pages, Downing Street, 18 November 1904; a letter saying "I am obliged to you for your letter...and for the extract from a despatch from Lord Stanley to Lord Metcalfe in 1845, which I have read with much interest", two pages, Downing Street, 17 April 1905); Lord Charles Beresford (typed letter signed, thanking Mr Forrest for sending a copy of the volumes about the Indian mutiny, which "have a special interest and value in as much as they deal with the performances of peel's Brigade.
