Brouncker', was William Brouncker, 2nd Viscount Brouncker (1620-1684), a mathematician and first President of the Royal Society in 1662. Descartes' early attempt at reconciling the relationship between the physical and psycological perceptions in music, using a scientific and mathematical method. (1)
