LINCOLN, ABRAHAM, President. Engraved document signed ("Abraham Lincoln") as President, countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton, Washington, D.C., 18 July 1862. 1 page, folio, 490 x 395mm. (19 1/4 x 13 3/4 in.), ON FINE PARCHMENT, blue paper seal of the United States at left, bold heading at top "The President of the United States of America," beneath which an American Eagle and the "E Pluribus Unum" motto fly above billowing clouds, at bottom of large vignette of crosses, flags, cannons and other military paraphernalia, accomplished in manuscript, IN FINE CONDITION. President Lincoln and Secretary Stanton appoint Thomas M. Vincent Assistant Adjutant General with the rank of Major for his outstanding "patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities."
