(Royal Armorial Bindings — Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France) L'Abbé Proyart. Vie du Dauphin, père de Louis XVI. Paris: Chez Berton, la veuve Hérissant, Mérigot, et l'Auteur, 1778 8vo (7 3/4 x 4 7/8 in.;197 x 123 mm). Half-title, engraved frontispiece of Louis, Dauphin of France; light toning to frontispiece, dampstaining in bottom margin, some marginal foxing. Contemporary red morocco, covers French filleted and stamped with the arms of Marie-Antoinette, smooth spine gilt, black morocco lettering piece, coated blue endpapers, gilt dentelles, edges gilt; skillful color restoration to spine and repairs to spine ends, tiny nick to upper joint, some streaking and mottling to upper cover and marginal staining to endpapers (both presumably from leather dressing). Sold as a group of bindings, not subject to return.
