Contemporary mottled sheep, gilt spines with contrasting labels (rather rubbed, a few wormholes in spines, foot of spine of vol.III repaired).

'One of Maupertius more remarkable studies related to the study of heredity of a dominant trait in three generations in a family. His conclusion that the components of heredity came from both parents and could be inherited from either of them foreshadow the laws of Mendel a century later', Gedeon, pp.278-79. With a much expanded second edition of W. Bateson's Mendel's Principles of Heredity (Cambridge, 1909, cf. Garrison-Morton 241). (5)
