NAPLES -- Gabriele RICCIADELLI, Antonio CARDON and others. Maps and views of Naples. [Naples: circa 1765]. Large 2° (537 x 410mm). Engraved and mounted on guards throughout. 14 double-page engraved sheets, forming 4 maps and 4 panoramas. (Wormhole to upper margins, just affecting image of two final sheets, small tear affecting image of first sheet, repaired tear to lower blank margin of the twelfth sheet.) Stitched in contemporary wrappers, the backstrip strengthened with a marbled paper strip, all within a modern card portfolio. An important collection of Neaploitan views and maps. The tentative date of 1765 is arrived at from the dedication of one of the views to 'Milord Mountstuart'. John Stuart Viscount Mountstuart, the eldest son of the 3rd Earl of Bute, visited Naples between March and April 1765. The collection comprises: Sheets 1 & 2: Felix PICCININO. Icon crateris Neapolitani, engraved map on two sheets. 3 & 4: Giuseppe BRACCI?. Antiquitatum Neapolitanorum, engraved map on two sheets. 5: [Guiseppe BRACCI?].
