Acts of the General Assembly of the Province of New Jersey, from the Surrender of the Government to Queen Anne, on the 17th Day of April, in the Year of our Lord 1702, to the 14th day of January, 1776 . Compiled by Samuel Allinson.
Burlington: Isaac Collins, 1776. Folio (13x9 inches, 335x225 mm). Contemporary calf. Condition: Minor foxing; chip at the head of the backstrip, and small area of loss on the lower cover. Provenance : Joseph Read (contemporary signature on the title page). first edition of allison’s new jersey laws with important provenance. Production of this volume of the last colonial laws of New Jersey was greatly delayed by Governor William Franklin's disagreements with the Assembly as well as the dearth of printing supplies. It is believed that this copy belonged to famed jurist Joseph Reed [alternate spelling], George Washington's aide-de-camp, Adjutant General of the American Army during the American Revolution and a member of the Continental Congress.
