Yates, North Dakota, c.1890, heavily worn with loss to upper and lower left corner, right margin rough, surface abrasions and staining. A damaged but rare early view of Fort Yates in the early years of McLaughlin's tenure. Dick Fansler ran the first photography studio at the settlement until 1900, when it was taken over by Frank Fiske. 2. Contact negative, 75 x 130 mm, in envelope, entitled, "F. S. Durham photo of Ft. Yates in '77," some surface nicks, else fine. With modern print of negative.
