(17 3/8 x 11 1/2 in.), on guards, eighteenth-century mottled sheep, spine in seven compartments, six gilt, red morocco lettering-piece in the seventh, marbled endpapers, edges sprinkled red, upper hinge splitting, extremities worn, slight worming to spine and inside covers, mapsheet 68 (Cremona) with a fold break entering the image, map 69 (Piedmont) with a skillfully repaired 3-inch tear, approximately 20 mapsheets with very minor marginal fold breaks or tears, a few neatly repaired, small rust- or burn-hole to map 61b (Swabia) with loss to a river, minuscule perforation to map 62 (Helvetia), browning to title-leaf and conjugate leaf A6 apparently caused by heavy sizing, occasional very slight discoloration or
