publisher).- The Compleat Florist, first edition in book form, engraved title within floral border, emblematic frontispiece engraved by John Carwithamand and 100 engraved plates, all hand-coloured, frontispiece and title a little soiled, title with slight smudging of colour to upper outer corner of border, plates a little browned with some scattered spotting, modern bookplate to upper pastedown, contemporary mottled calf, spine gilt, rebacked preserving original backstrip, corners bumped, lightly rubbed, [Dunthorne 102; Henrey 568; Nissen BBI 554], 8vo, for J.Duke, 1747. *** Each plate depicts a single variety with the month of flowering at head and caption with note of cultivation at foot; originally issued in 2 parts in 1740.
