Title within an engraved border with a portrait of Tasso and a view of a harbor, 20 full-page engraved illustrations after Bernardo Castello by Giacomo Franco and Agostino Carracci ILLUMINATED IN GOLD AND COLORS IN A CONTEMPORARY HAND. (Some dampstaining and browning, stamp removed from leaf )(2 ). 18th-century red morocco gilt, with a central blue morocco inlay, with initials "P.P.", gilt and gauffered edges (worn). Provenance : P.P. (binding); George W. Pratt (bookplate); acquired from Marlborough Rare Books, 1988. FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION, ILLUMINATED IN GOLD AND COLORS first edition with the commentary of Gentili and Guastavini. Variant spelling in signature C conforming with Hofer copy I.
