The first section details the suberb collection of Aldines, accompanied by plates printed in gold and colors which reproduce many of the fine bindings. The second section covers the collection of general literature. Toovey, a London bookseller, formed the collection during the last twenty years of his life. Toovey purchased many of the books from the library of the late Earl of Gosford in 1878. Included were works obtained from the libraries formed by Renouard, Hanrott, Butler, Bishop of Lichfield, Sir M.M. Sykes, Heber, Hibbert, Libri and Solar. Morgan purchased the collection from Toovey's son in 1899.
