Footnotes citing a multitude of classical sources back up Barthelemy's imagined journey, which is illustrated with an attractive engraved map by du Bocage. Lot Amendments Condition: Wear and rubbing to bindings, some chips and a bit of loss to tops of spines, front joint to vol. 4 split, some loss to leather on spine of vol. 4; offsetting and a 2" closed tear to map at stub, scattered light foxing, a few ownership signatures on the front free endpaper of vol. 1; very good.
