Très rare groupe en porcelaine blanche figurant l'Enlèvement d'Europe, Meissen, circa 1933-1948 A very rare Meissen large white group of Europa and the Bull, circa 1933-1948Modelled by Paul Scheurich on a narrow rectangular base moulded with waves and reeds, incised signature 'Scheurich/ 32' to rear of base, 67cm high; 44.5cm across, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue and impressed crossed swords mark and 'Weiss' to rear of base, incised model number A 1192 and impressed former's number 13FootnotesProvenance: Private Collection, Saxony Exhibited: Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 Scheurich began work on the large group of Europa and the Bull by 1930 at the latest, though his attention was diverted by other projects and he only delivered the model to Meissen in March 1932 for which he was paid RM 3,200. It may only have been produced in porcelain from 1934, when the first sale is recorded. By 1940, only three examples were with dealers (Rafael 1995a, no. 45).
