Der Künstler war Schüler von Enrico Pollastrini (1817 - 1876), studierte 1878/79 in Neapel bei Domenico Morelli (1823 - 1901) und zog 1880 nach Paris, wo er Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890) kennenlernte. Inspiriert durch den Historien- und Porträtmaler Léon Joseph Florentin Bonnat (1833 - 1922), später in Bekanntschaft mit Gabriele D’Annunzio (1863 - 1938). Die vorliegende Darstellung im Halbbildnis, um das Dekolleté ein flauschiger weißer Pelz gelegt, am Hals eine doppelte Perlenkette, das Haar hochgebunden, der Blick gilt dem Betrachter. In 1878/79 he studied in Naples with Domenico Morelli (1823 - 1901) and in 1880 he relocated to Paris, where he became acquainted with Vincent van Gogh (1853 - 1890). He was inspired by the history- and portrait painter Léon Joseph Florentin Bonnat (1833 - 1922), and later also met Gabriele D’Annunzio (1863 - 1938). The offered painting depicts a lady in half-length with luxurious white fur stole around her décolleté, wearing a two-strand pearl necklace; her hair is pinned-up and she looks at the viewer.
