1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Pagoda Lot Number289 RegistrationTGC 44E Chassis Number11304322000808 Engine Number12998022000161 Estimate£14,000 - £18,000 ResultSold - £25,200 Print details Send this to a friend From a significant Mercedes-Benz collection UK Supplied right hand drive example Mercedes-Benz have been producing the SL range since 1954 when the landmark 300SL was unveiled. The similarly styled, but mechanically unrelated, 190 followed in 1955, completing the first generation of cars. Their successor was the W113 series SL which proved to be more comfortable than the former and faster than the latter. The 250SL is the rarest of all the SL's as they were only made for one year. This example was purchased by the current vendor as an abandoned restoration and has had just three owners from new (the last keeper change being 1977). The 250SL benefits from having a number of original Mercedes panels fitted and is ready for further restoration. This original right hand drive, automatic, 250SL represents a fantastic opportunity for the new custodian. These are highly desirable models and restored examples are achieving six figure sums in some instances. Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description this vehicle is a 1967 example.
