Beschreibung:

Enrico Fumia of Pininfarina's low slung wedge design with high 'kamm tail' was reminiscent of his earlier Audi-based Pininfarina Quartz prototype of 1981. The striking lines of the new Grand Turismo Veloce (GTV) and Spiders, revealed at Geneva Salon in 1995, earned countless prestigious design awards from most motoring quarters. Characteristically, the car features concealed headlamps, designed in conjunction with Carello, mounted beneath a clamshell bonnet with illumination port-holes. Build quality was notably a close match to its German rivals and the GTV/Spider helped considerably with rejuvenating Alfa Romeo's reputation for beautiful design and quality crafted sportscars. The year 2000, two-litre cars were fitted with an upgraded twin-cam engine with 153bhp, until Euro3 emissions regulations restricted the performance from August 2000 onwards. Registered new in April 2000, this one private owner two-Litre T-Spark Spider was sent, at a few months old, to Alfa Romeo's recognised performance specialist engineers 'Autodelta' for a GT28 Turbo Conversion with longer 5th gear to handle the 152mph top speed. Published output increased from 153bhp to 220bhp with 0-62mph reached in 6.2 seconds. Finished in a striking 'Nero' coachwork with tan 'Lusso' specification upholstery, the owner also invested in a Limited Edition custom made (Number 0105) Autodelta hardtop. The total invoiced value of these upgrades being over £6,200. Performance is exhilarating and the car feels and behaves just as you would expect from a one-owner car which has been maintained across the years with little expense spared. This is a delightful one-owner example of one of the prettiest roadsters ever built by Alfa Romeo. The official 'Autodelta' upgrades make this already desirable Spider a particularly rare and highly attractive collector's proposition.
