A 16-bore French silver-gilt mounted flintlock pistol for the Turkish market By Lamotte Aine a St. Etienne, early 19th Century With two-stage sighted barrel punched with thunder-clouds, stars and a crescent moon, all originally gilt against a blued ground, the breech chiselled in high relief against a punched and gilt ground (gilding worn) with a military trophy, a crown between sprigs of laurel and oak above, and surmounted by a baldachin, engraved tang, signed rounded lock chiselled en suite, gold-lined pan with water-drains, figured walnut full stock (minor damage) inlaid over its entire length with silver wire scrollwork and foliage (minor losses), silver-gilt mounts (some wear) cast and chased with elaborate trophies of arms including solid side-plate, and spurred pommel with separate lion-mask butt-cap, and original ramrod 20¼in. (51.4cm.)
