A finely detailed 1/8in:1ft scale model of the brigantine 'Leon' built by W.R. Jewell from plans by H.A. Underhill with masts, spars, standing and running rigging with scale blocks, foot ropes and left hand wound ropes and deck details including anchors, catheads, fairleads, capstan, windlass, companionways, hatches, deckhouse, bilge pump, belaying rails and pins, poop deck with rails and cabin, ship's wheel and carved planked and framed ship's boat with bottom boards, thwarts, oars and rowlocks. The hull, planked in pearwood, has holly deck planking, finely carved bow and stern decoration and is finished in matt varnish and contrasting woods. Mounted on two turned brass columns -- 15 x 20in. (38 x 50.8cm.). Stand. Brass bound glazed mahogany case
