Beschreibung:

A large and important Dutch Delft orangist plaque, 18th C.
Another exceptional work of orangist Delftware, this very refined plaque shows a previously unknown subject. A central flower basket with orange tree, flanked by a drummer on each side. The orange tree is surmounted by the tekst "Oranje Vendel". The coat of arms of the royal Dutch house of Oranje Nassau is depicted "hanging" in the tree, below it the coat of arms of the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant. The city arms of Delft are depicted on the urn. As far as we are aware, there is no other example known of this subject. The plaque was possibly commissioned by a member of the "Oranje Vendel" in Delft, a private orangist militia. A famous member of the Oranje Vendel was the Dutch painter Vermeer. Marked to the back with an unattributed H. The quality of execution is very high and the plaque is in very good condition. Ca. 1740. Size: ca. 33,5 x 31 cm Estimate: € 8000 - € 10000
