Introduced in 1926, Percy Riley's twin-camshaft, overhead-valve 'four' was an outstanding engine design by any standards, various versions powering Rileys until 1957. Clothed in stylish bodywork by Stanley Riley, the marque's pre-war offerings were among the world's finest small-capacity sporting cars, models such as the Brooklands, Imp and MPH establishing an enviable competition record for the Coventry firm. This racing Riley Special was constructed in the UK in the late 1990s using wholly Riley mechanical parts. The steel chassis is an exact copy of the MPH underslung type, while the engine is a 2,443cc four-cylinder unit from a 'Big Four', both these Riley models dating from the mid-to-late 1930s. Gearbox is a four-speed manual, front and rear (4.7:1) axles are Riley Merlin and the brakes are mechanical Girlings as used by Riley. 18"-diameter wire wheels are fitted and the whole ensemble is clothed in stylish, aluminium, two-seat, boat-tail coachwork in Ulster Imp style. The car is offered with FIA papers, VSCC eligibility form, VSCC competition car logbook and German Kraftfahrzeugbrief. Ausschliesslich aus Riley-Teilen wurde dieser Renn-Riley-Special im Jahre1990 in England aufgebaut. Das Stahl-Chassis ist eine exakte Kopie des MPH-Rahmens, und der 2,5 Liter 4-Zylinder stammt vom ‘Big Four’. Beides Typen aus den dreissiger Jahren.
