CHARLES X, King of Sweden . Letter signed ("Carolus Gustavus") as King, TO LOUIS XIV, THE KING OF FRANCE, [Brandenburg], 25 September 1658. 2 pages, folio, 355 x 225 mm. (13 7/8 x 9 in.), with integral address leaf and original papered seal , in Latin, text in an ornate calligraphic hand. CHARLES X OF SWEDEN TO THE SUN KING, LOUIS XIV OF FRANCE A formal letter in which the great soldier Charles X commends Colonel Desminiers, formerly a French emissary to Moscow, and praises his efforts on behalf of peace. Early in 1658 Charles had attacked Denmark and later that year signed a peace treaty that had been mediated by France and England.
