DESIGNER UNKNOWN EN ESPANA / HOY. 1937. 191/2x29 inches. Seix & Barral, Barcelona. Condition B+: tape stains in margins; creases in image; tape on verso. Paper. In 1937 the Republican Ministry of Instruction and Health in Barcelona, and two of the larger trade unions the CNT (National Confederation of workers) and the UGT (General Union of Workers) launched a big event called "La Semana del Nino" (Children's Week). This poster is one of at least two variations, using the same baby's face (the other is in the vertical format), by an unknown designer, integrating text and photography. Despite the preponderance of text, showing off all of the Republican advances in the field of taking care of children victimized by the war, the layout is still efficient and good. A rare document. Guerra Civil p. 294 no. 494 (var).
