FERNEL, Jean François Cosmotheoria, libros duos complexa . Paris: Simon de Colines, 1528. 2 o (322 x 215 mm). Title within woodcut border attributed to Oronce Fine, woodcut diagrams and initials. (Filled wormtrack at extreme inner margin.) Modern limp vellum. FIRST EDITION, second issue (with reprinted title page) of Fernel's second work, like the first an astronomical text. "The Cosmotheoria ... contained measurements made by Fernel--his estimate of a degree of meridian was good enough to be in close agreement with that of Jean Picard 140 years later and thus was an important contribution to geophysics" --DSB. Scarce: the only copies recorded by American Book Prices Current in the last 30 years are the Honeyman (1979) and Abrams (1989) copies.
