KHWAJA SHAMS AL-DIN HAFIZ SHIRAZI (D.1390 AD): DIWAN PROBABLY SHIRAZ, SAFAVID IRAN, FIRST HALF 16TH CENTURY Persian manuscript on paper, 201ff. each with 12ll. of elegant black nasta'liq divided into two columns with intercolumnar gold rules, headings in alternating blue and gold, text panels within gold and polychrome rules, catchwords, five contemporaneous illustrations, opening folio fully illuminated in gold and polychrome reserved against gold illuminated ground headings above and below with text in white on gold ground, colophon torn and partially restored, in contemporaneous stamped and tooled morocco with stylised cloudbands and arabesques with a large central cusped medallion, découpé polychrome doublures, old collection label and an old catalogue note Text panel 4 7/8 x 2½in.
