A Fine Scale Model Of The Extreme Clipper Thermopylae C. Cook; American, ca. 1998 A fine scale model with the hull built up from the solid, with a coppered bottom which has turned a verdi gris color, black painted topsides, built up bulwarks with a brown painted caprail, the deck planking from basswood with the deck caulking modeled in black ink. The model is very well detailed which includes: a carved figure head which has been painted white, bollards, anchor windlass, deck hatches, pin and fife rails, spare masts and yards, 3 ships boats (one on davits), fire buckets, bilge pump, ladders, life rings, barrels, ship's wheel, railings and numerous other deck details. The model is well rigged with a bowsprit and three masts rigged with cross spars, standing and running rigging which includes ratlines, stays, halyards, bracing lines, sheets, halyards, topping lifts, etc. The model is displayed on a mahogany base board in a wood framed glass case. 34¾ x 11 x 20 7/8 in. (88.3 x 27.9 x 52.7 cm.) cased dimensions.
