A GERMAN SMALL-SWORD with slender double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section changing to flattened oval at the forte, the latter etched on each face with conventional ornament and 'Matrit', brass hilt cast with panels of foliated strapwork, and wire-bound wooden grip (binding incomplete), early 18th Century; a small-sword with tapering blade of hollow triangular section etched at the forte with conventional scrolling foliage, steel hilt with oval shell and faceted urn-shaped pommel and grip, circa 1780, probably French; and another, similar, the blued hilt with shell pierced with a pattern of radiating leaves and set with cut steel studs, the pommel and grip chiselled with bands of gadrooning, circa 1780, probably French 32¾in., 34in. and 32¼in. blades [E.8,15,14] (3)
