PINELLI, Bartolomeo (1781-1835). Raccolta di Cinquanta Costumi Pittoreschi . Rome: Lorenzo Lazzari, 1809. [ Bound with :] -- Nuova Raccolta di Cinquanta Costumi De' Contorni di Roma Crompresi Diversi Fatti di Briganti . Rome: G. Scudellari, 1823. 2 works in 1 volume, oblong 2° (275 x 405mm). Together 100 plates on wove paper with no distinct watermarks. (Title and first leaf with long shallow crease; some scattered spotting and occasional browning, this mostly marginal but more extensive in the first and last few leaves, occasional faint marginal dampstain.) Contemporary maroon half sheep and marbled boards, the front cover centred with a gilt label (front joint starting, extremities rubbed, sides scuffed). Two of Pinelli's popular collections of plates documenting the costume and various scenes in and about Rome, including festivals, the wine harvest, bear baiting, a puppet show, bowler, cowboys, numerous local costumes, and a long series on the deeds of local brigands. The second printing of the first work, with the plates numbered in the engraving. Colas 2370, 2386; Lipperheide Ja 12; Vinet 2294, 2297.
