(A few spots on title, errata leaf b2 misbound after S7, fly-title leaf d misbound after title, clean, skilfully repaired tear on B5, small paper flaw affecting one word on D7, lacking final blank S8.) Late 19th-century crushed green morocco gilt by F. Bedford, the covers with gilt triple fillet borders, gilt board edges, roll-tooled gilt dentelles on turn-ins, the spine gilt in 6 compartments divided by raised bands, titled in 2 compartments, the others decorated with central gilt acorn and leaf tools surrounded by curlicue tools, top edges gilt, original paper spine label laid down and bound in at the end (spine slightly darkened, corners and lower board edges lightly rubbed, paper spine label rubbed and chipped with small losses). FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. ONE OF 'THE FEW [COPIES] WHICH ARE DATED 1817' (Grolier Shelley ). Grolier Shelley 43 (describing the Locker copy, with errata bound after S7); Wise Shelley p.49.
