FIRST EDITION, second issue, with the title a cancel and correctly dated 1818; also with the fly-title correctly bound as d1. This edition reproduces the text of Laon and Cythna (1818), made up of the same sheets, with a new title-page and twenty-six cancel leaves, the Preface ending on p. xxi and the half-title changed to The Revolt of Islam . "When only a few copies [of Laon and Cythna ] had been issued, Ollier, the publisher, demanded that certain passages be removed or changed, and Shelley, under protest, acceded to his wishes" (Granniss/Grolier Shelley 44).
