Title within a woodcut historiated border, the verso with full-page woodcut showing a young man entering a room, a gowned master in the centre and, behind him, another young man, final blank leaf. 19th-century parchment boards, black lettering piece (a trifle soiled), g.e. Provenance : Victor Masséna, Prince d'Essling (gilt arms on covers). One of several editions of this little book that appeared in 1520 addressed by Nifo to Charles V in order to combat the growing fear of a great flood forecast for 1524 when all the planets were aligned in Pisces. The striking woodcut, similar to the work of Ugo da Carpi was also used for the Italian edition printed in Venice the following year. Sander 4991; Essling 2127.
